Caroline’s case

Adoption can be a complex and emotional journey and many adopted individuals find themselves searching for the answers about their biological roots. For Caroline who was born in the early 1980's, her journey took an unexpected turn when she found out the identity of her biological father.

Caroline was adopted soon after being born. When she was 18 years old, she applied to get her adoption files. That led her to find who her biological mother is. She got in touch with her mother and was welcomed to her mother's new family. Mother was very young and unable to cope with the baby when she gave birth to Caroline. She wasn't willing to reveal to Caroline the identity of her biological father. We found out later on that the reason for this was because biological father was married at the time and he already had a son from his marriage.

However, Caroline was curious about her medical history and her father's family, so she decided to turn to DNA testing in hope to find the answers.

Thanks to DNA advancements in DNA technology, I was able to identify her paternal matches and eventually work out who her potential father would be.

This discovery raised many questions and emotions for Caroline, as she is now faced with the decision of wheather or not to make contact with her biological father. Making contact with a biological parent can be a difficult and personal choice, but for Caroline, the desire to know her medical history and her family roots is a driving factor. Regardless of her decision, it is important for Caroline to remember that her identity and worth are not determined by her biological relationships.
